WhatsApp blocked my account or number — what now
Meta (not Yapper) can restrict, disable, or block your WhatsApp Business account or phone number if they detect policy violations, unusual messaging patterns, or low quality ratings.
How to Check if Your Account is Blocked
When Meta restricts or blocks your WhatsApp account, Yapper detects the issue and takes the following actions:
- Admin Notifications: Yapper notifies account admins immediately of the block via their configured notification channels.
- Dashboard Status: The affected sender will be marked as disconnected or blocked under Admin → Connections.
Common reasons for these blocks include invalid Meta credentials, missing or failed payment methods on your Meta Business Manager, or official Meta policy violations and account alerts.
What Stops Working
While your account is blocked or restricted by Meta:
- Template sending stops: Any queued or newly initiated template campaigns will fail immediately and are marked as failed in the dashboard.
- Replies may keep working: Some blocks (for example, a missing payment method) only stop business-initiated messages — the assistant can still reply to customers who messaged you within the last 24 hours. A full account block stops all sending, including assistant replies and manual messages from the Inbox.
How to Resolve a Block
Because these blocks are enforced by Meta, you must resolve them directly within your Meta dashboard:
- Log in to Meta Business Manager: Go to your Meta Business settings.
- Review Account Quality: Navigate to the Account Quality or Business Support Home page to find the specific policy notification, warning, or block detail.
- Resolve Payment Issues: If the block is due to an unpaid balance or a missing payment method, update your payment details in Meta Business Manager.
- Submit an Appeal: If you believe your account was blocked in error or you have corrected the underlying issue, follow the instructions on Meta's Account Quality page to submit an official appeal.
Once the block is lifted by Meta and messaging succeeds again, Yapper's account health notifications and warnings will clear automatically.
How to Reduce the Risk of Blocks
To keep your WhatsApp Business account in good standing and minimize the risk of future blocks:
- Secure explicit opt-in: Only message customers who have explicitly agreed to receive messages from your business.
- Honor opt-out requests: Make it easy for customers to stop receiving messages (such as including opt-out buttons in your templates) and respect those choices immediately.
- Monitor template quality: Keep an eye on your templates under Admin → Templates. If customers frequently block or report your messages, Meta may pause your templates or restrict your account.
- Provide clear, helpful content: Ensure your assistant's playbook matches your business's real-world offerings so customer interactions remain high-quality and relevant.
